Locks Replacement

There are several instances when it is critical to replace front door lock and other exterior locks. These include:

• Rusted or Worn Out: Rusted or otherwise worn out locks can mean serious problems. They manage to be more difficult to open with a real key while being easier to pick and break into. If you notice any visible signs of wear or have had difficulty with the door sticking, it’s time to consider lock replacement. On door handles with sticking issues you may even found yourself locked out if the lock isn’t fixed.
• Stolen or Misplaced Keys: Even the most careful among us can still have issues with misplaced keys. Often, keys are dropped or lost on the street or in a car. While this situation doesn’t pose much immediate risk, there are other instances where immediate lock replacement is recommended like when a key is stolen or has your address on it.
• Unreturned Keys: Even if you are on good terms with the person who has failed to return your key, there is no guarantee that they won’t end up losing their keys with your key attached. Instead of trying to track down that old roommate or houseguest, it can often be easier to start changing locks on door handles.
• Forced Entry: If you’ve suffered a forced entry into your home, it is best to replace your locks immediately. Even if criminals don’t have your keys, there is a good chance that the forced entry compromised your locking mechanism and can leave you open to more criminal activity or possibly prevent you from opening your door the legitimate way.
• Replace Front Door Lock Priority: Your front door is likely the most important entrance into your home and should be prioritized when changing locks. On door locks to side doors would be the next priority.
